Shinrin-Yoku - Forest Bathing/Guided Nature Walk w/Kamilla

Fitness

Sat, March 7

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM at Snow Peak Campfield

Connecting to nature has been in practice for thousands of years by many cultures. Forest Bathing, also known as Shinrin-Yoku, was developed in the 1980's by the Japanese after studies showed mindful exploration improved mental and physical health. Forest Bathing encourages people to slow down, disengage from distractions and become aware of their surroundings using the five senses. It cultivates self-awareness, relaxation, and improves the human mind & body. Forest Bathing is an evidenced-based practice with many studies showing the benefits of this practice.

Born on the East Coast, and home to the West, Blair Borax’s musical journey began unexpectedly in 2016, when a friend gifted her a cheap guitar.

Since she quit her day job in 2022, she has released two full length albums and played over 300 shows across the country.

With more sophisticated songwriting, a newfound confidence in fingerpicking guitar, and a move towards dynamic acoustic folk production, her latest record, “Tender Lately” (2024), offers gentle reminders to quiet the inner critic, find joy in the small things, and embrace the precious brevity of our time on Earth.

As a child, Alex suffered from scarlet fever which caused deafness in both of his ears. it is perhaps this event that influenced his unique understanding of vibration and frequency. Picking up his first guitar at the age of 13, he established an intimate relationship to sound that he carries into his work today.

Tentative Clam Digging dates

Razor Clam Season! Come dig with us. Tentative Digs! Approved approximately a week before the digs.

Camp Demos

Tue, March 17 – Tue, March 24

11:30 PM – 7:00 PM at At the beach!

All beach openings are dependent on final approval of marine toxin testing, which usually occurs about a week or less before the start of each digging series.

On all open beaches – Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks, and Copalis – the daily limit is 15 clams per person. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container, and all diggers must keep the first 15 clams they dig, regardless of size or condition.

“It's important that diggers keep the clams they dig to prevent wastage,” Blumenthal said. “It's not unusual to encounter some small clams, especially this early in the season.”

You want to be at the beach about 2 hours before low tide.

Below are additional tentative dates; beginning March 20 digging will switch to morning (midnight to noon only) low tides:

  • March 17, Tuesday, 6:21 p.m.; 0.2 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis
  • March 18, Wednesday, 6:54 p.m.; 0.3 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis
  • March 19, Thursday, 7:28 p.m.; 0.5 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks
  • March 20, Friday, 8:00 a.m.; -0.1 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks (Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival)
  • March 21, Saturday, 8:43 a.m.; -0.5 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis (Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival)
  • March 22, Sunday, 9:29 a.m.; -0.6 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis (Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival)
  • March 23, Monday, 10:22 a.m.; -0.5 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks
  • March 24, Tuesday, 11:21 a.m.; -0.1 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks
